Question by Sandra: What are all the possible job positions in a nursing home?
I'm looking for a job around my area. I'd like to call and ask if they're hiring before I go in and find out that they're not, but I'm not exactly sure what position I'd be asking about. Like, I've applied at plenty of nursing homes under the job title 'dietary assistant', but some nursing homes have similar jobs under the title of 'home maker'. So I'm wondering... what are all the positions in a nursing home?

It's not really feasible to list "all" the positions in a nursing home. If you don't have a degree or certificate in anything, and you don't have specific job experience, your job choices are fairly limited. You may qualify for some sort of aid, reception, office work, kitchen help, or janitorial.
In short, you'll need to contact each employer and ask what kind of education and experience they require for specific jobs. 'Dietary Assistants' may fall under something that requires some sort of nutrition education. I've never seen a title of 'home maker' since that is usually what stay at home wives/moms do.

I work in a nursing home, and there are all different areas of work.
We have the administration-which you wouldn’t be able to just walk into.
Housekeeping- We hire anybody for these positions
Laundry
Dietary
Maintenance
And the obvious, nursing.
At my work we call the dietary staff the dietary aides, aside from the cook.

Consider the Activities! Activity directors plan all the activities that keep the residents occupied, exercised, entertained, and social. They usually have others helping them with everything from planning activities and getting supplies to decorating for events (parties and holidays) to assisting those who need it during different activities like crafts, outings, exercise, sing-alongs and many more.
